Nigerian Troops Repel Rampaging Boko Haram Insurgents From Sambisa Forest, Rescue 455 Abducted Victims

Nigerian soldiers yesterday repelled an attack by insurgents believed to belong to Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram. The insurgents, who were in five gun trucks, motorcycles and two Golf cars, had mounted an attack on the 121 Task Force Battalion of the Nigerian Army.
A military spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed that the insurgents attacked troops with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the Sambisa forest.

"The ever alert and vigilant troops rose to the occasion and successfully repelled the attack and killed seven Boko Haram terrorists, wounded several others and recovered four AK-47 rifles, three AK-47 rifle magazines and 92 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) belt ammunition," Colonel Usman disclosed.
His statement added that Nigerian troops belonging to the 3rd Battalion caught a suspected spy working for Boko Haram near the Battalion Headquarters at Gamboru Ngala. According to him, the arrested spy confessed during interrogation that he had been sent by the terrorist group from Wulge to spy on the troops.
Colonel Usman declared that troops were subsequently sent to Wulge and Walamari where they encountered some Boko Haram terrorists, killing 27 of them. Also, the troops recovered five motorcycles and eight bicycles, according to the military. "They also cleared 12 terrorists’ camps and recovered one AK-47 rifle as well as one Dane gun," the military spokesman stated.

  In addition, the troops rescued 455 people abducted by the insurgents. The rescued people were taken to an to an Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camp in Gamboru. 
Colonel Usman also revealed that soldiers also "ambushed Boko Haram terrorists at Mairimri village crossing point," adding that the soldiers recovered 15 vehicles and foodstuff.
